Innovation and Entrepreneurship Excellence Programme

Qihua Primary School (QHPS) is committed towards providing a holistic education for its students. The school creates opportunities and platforms for its students to be immersed in an enriching and engaging school experience.

Through our ALP (Applied Learning Programme) – Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I & E) Excellence Programme, the school aims to develop its students to be confident and articulate communicators equipped with inventive and critical thinking skills.

 Offering entrepreneurial-minded individuals the platform to pursue their dreams and achieve success, Qihua has been embracing innovation since 2009 as part of the school’s direction to build 21CC skills and competencies. Our goal is to nurture future entrepreneurial leaders for success, while igniting the spirit of innovation and enterprise in all Qihuaians.

Key Programmes

P1 and P2- Innovate through Stories

Students learn different ways to solve the problems faced by the characters in fairy tales. Using Growth Mindset and design thinking skills, students think of solutions for the given challenges.

P3 Interdisciplinary Project Work (IPW) – Sail Car

Inter-disciplinary Project Work (IPW) for P3 , enabled students to acquire skills like design thinking, collaboration, communication and independent learning, Hence our budding Qihua engineers created, experimented and raced their unique designs in the classrooms.

P4 Make the Change

P4 students attended a Social Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme, Make-The-Change which helped students to recognise the various social issues faced in our communities. This programme inculcated positive values and habits through exposure to real life situations and case studies. Students were then given the opportunity to actualise their innovative solutions through a social campaign based on design thinking skills.

P5 Interdisciplinary Project Work (IPW) – Micro:bit

Our P5 students discovered for themselves the magic of coding and the joy in inventing products of their imagination. During the project, our futuristic young wizards battled with time to innovate and invent products! They toggled with the micro:bit codings and brainstormed for ideas to build fitness products and design games for varying target groups. They whisked through the design thinking process to integrate micro:bit with their designs.

P5 IvP (Innovation Programme)

Twenty of our Primary 5 students took part in IvP (Innovation Programme), a eight-month programme overseen by the MOE GEP branch. Guided by their teacher mentors, the students learnt skills which included problem-finding, idea generation and prototyping.

P6 Bizkid$

P6 students participated in a 4-week I&E programme under the guidance of their teachers to come up with innovative products using problem solving techniques such as ideation and design thinking.This post PSLE programme also introduced students to financial literacy and entrepreneurship.

InnoJOY Fest

InnoJOY is a platform to showcase our students’ innovative works and develop their confidence and communication skills . Through this platform, the innovation and entrepreneurship spirit is encouraged among staff and students.
