Indian Dance
Indian Dance provides students with an opportunity to engage with this vibrant art form, fostering creativity, discipline, and cultural appreciation

Indian dance is a rich and diverse form of cultural expression that has evolved over thousands of years. It encompasses a variety of styles and traditions, each with its own unique characteristics and significance. As part of our Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), Indian Dance provides students with an opportunity to engage with this vibrant art form, fostering creativity, discipline, and cultural appreciation.
Indian dance is more than just a performance; it is a form of storytelling and spiritual expression. It plays a crucial role in preserving cultural heritage and traditions. Through dance, students can gain a deeper understanding of Indian mythology, history, and social values. Moreover, participating in Indian dance helps develop physical coordination, rhythm, and emotional expression.

Benefits for Students
Indian Dance as a CCA offers students a unique and enriching experience, combining artistic expression with cultural education. By participating in Indian Dance, students not only gain valuable skills and knowledge but also contribute to the preservation and celebration of a rich cultural tradition.
Through Indian Dance CCA, students develop an appreciation for Indian culture and traditional dance forms while nurturing confidence, discipline, creativity and teamwork. They learn dance techniques, rhythm, expressions and the cultural significance behind different dance forms, while regular practice strengthens their coordination, physical fitness, perseverance and ability to work as a team.
Students also have opportunities to perform both within and beyond the school, sharing their talents with the wider community through events such as Dance Extravaganza, SYF Celebrations, the National Dance Celebration at the Istana and Deepavali performances at Woodlands CC. Their dedication and commitment have been recognised through continuous Distinction awards at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) since 2018, reflecting the students' high standards, resilience and passion for Indian dance.
